Beatrice Edna Shoop Flanary, 84, went to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully on Monday (March 21, 2011) at her residence.
She was born in Arno, VA on July 26, 1926. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was a devoted member of the Baptist faith and a devoted homemaker all of her life for her entire family.
She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 61 years, Lewis "Ed" Flanary; a granddaughter, Tammy K. Chandler; her parents, Charles and Beatrice Willie Mae (Hodges) Shoop; three brothers, Ralph, Robert and Ted Shoop; and four sisters, Syble Laws, Bessie Shoop, Ida Lawson and Ruth Caudill.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Flanary and wife Emily of Sunnyvale, CA; two daughters, Linda S. Noel of Big Stone Gap and Treina K. Caswell and husband Jim of Rogersville, TN; several grandchildren, Dana Cabrera, Laura Lee Dee, Patrick Chandler, Pam Houser, Nathan Noel and Kim Hunter; several great grandchildren, Amanda, Brittiny, Kyle, Tawni, Paige, Alex, Taylor, Christopher, Alyssa, Zachery and Jason; one great-great granddaughter, Karyssa; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA.
The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Thomas officiating.
Entombment services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:20 a.m. on Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
