July 18, 2012 - From: Find A Grave contributor Lyndon Irwin - [email protected] - I purchased a photo at an antique store that is identified as George Sander and mentions Zoar. There is a clipping with it that says he died at Camp Custer, Michigan and in that clipping, there is a photo of him in his WWI uniform. I'll be glad to share the image with a family member for what I paid for it. I'm just trying to help it find its way home.

Born near Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana. Either died at Camp Custer, Battle Creek, Michigan, or home; it is not clear to me as I attempt to follow the story in the Sons of Men book, though it does seem he went back to Michigan after visiting home for Christmas, as it states "His body was brought to Evansville and was laid to rest in Zoar Cemetery, ...". See pg. 161 -- WWI Vet. Received battle wounds in France, however, on the way to a hospital in New York, contracted a disease that overcame him. His mother did get to meet him in New York before his passing on 29 Dec 1918. He is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery "with military honors....". See pg. 156 -- https://www.google.com/books/edition/Sons_of_Men/OaHvAAAAMAAJ?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=sons+of+men:+Evansvilles%27+war+record&printsec=frontcover
