Obituary - Carrizo Springs Rites Held for A. N. Box
Funeral services for Albert Newton Box, 71, were held at Carrizo Springs last week. He died in San Antonio on December 9. Mr. Box, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Polk Alexander Box, was the youngest of 11 children and was born in Llano County Sept. 12, 1890. His father was a circuit rider, later holding a pastorate. Mr. Box united with the Methodist Church at an early age. He was devoted to it and remained faithful throughout his life. He served in the 36th Division in World War I. He was wounded in October before the armistice was signed Nov. 11, 1918. Lying in the battlefield so long before aid came to him, his left arm had to be amputated. He was later discharged and married Miss Dean Clinger, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Clinger and they made their home in Llano County where they ranched until 1934 when they moved to Carrizo Springs. He remained active in both ranching and civic affairs until his recent illness. Survivors are his wife and four children, Mrs. Charles Allen, Mrs. Carroll Burns, and Travis Box, all of Carrizo Springs and Ward Box of Crystal City; two sisters, Miss Alice Box of Burnet and Mrs. Guy Stevenson of Austin; and 13 grandchildren. One daughter, Jane Vick, died in 1937."

Ward Lee Box, child of Albert and Dena Box, died 8 Sep 2012 in Crystal City, Zavala Co. TX. His body was cremated and ashes scattered over his ranch. He was born 23 July 1929 in Lone Grove, Llano Co., TX. Married Jeanette Gay Stone on 10 May 1952 in Chandler, Maricopa Co., AZ.
