Roger L. Schieferdecker, 79, died passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2002, in Canton, Illinois. He was born in Bowen, Illinois, the son of Helen (Lawless) and Lloyd Schieferdecker.

He married Katheryn Baudino Scapecchi on September 18, 1960, in Burlington, IA.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and served in the shipyard at the Panama Canal.

He attended Illinois College in Jacksonville, Miami University and Western Illinois University, graduating with a teaching degree.

He taught and coached one year at Plymouth High School, then worked as manager of the Farmington branch of Alexander Lumber Co., retiring after 36 years as district manager.

He was a member of Farmington United Methodist Church, Farmington American Legion Post 140, Farmington Moose Lodge 1571 and the Farmington Senior Center.
