DEWITT, Iowa -- Mr. Frances "Bud" DeSchepper, of DeWitt, Iowa, formerly of Long Grove, Iowa, died suddenly early Saturday morning, July 14, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 10:30 a.m at St. Ann's Church in Long Grove, with a viewing preceding the mass from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. at the church. Reverend H. Robert Harness will preside. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may visit Tuesday, July 17, 2007, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, DeWitt. A rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Evan Guthrie, Jason DeSchepper, Tom Moya, Ryan Caprio, David Fox and Frances Claeys. Memorials may go to St. Ann's Church or St. Joseph's Church. Frances Edwin DeSchepper was born December 19, 1922, in Davenport, the son of Peter and Josephine (Murphy) DeSchepper. He married Alice J. Hoste at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline, September 30, 1944. They farmed in the Long Grove area for many years and later Bud was employed for Petersen (Von Maur) Trucking. The couple has resided in the Dewitt area since 1991. Mr. DeSchepper was a member of St. Ann's Church in Long Grove for over 50 years and currently was a member of St. Joseph's Church in DeWitt. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for several years. Survivors include his wife of over 63 years, Alice; nine children, Gerald (Kathy) DeSchepper, Davenport, Charles (Pamela) DeSchepper, Chowchilla, Calif., Jeanne (Gordon) Korstange, Saxtons' River, Vt., Marilyn Moya, Marshall, Va., Rosemary Guthrie, DeWitt, Thomas DeSchepper, Long Grove, William "Bill" (Kim) DeSchepper, Davenport, Barbara (Mark) Caprio, Jacksonville, Fla., Gary DeSchepper, Clinton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, three stepgrandsons; and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rita Claeys, Long Grove.
