Shirley Elizabeth Wells McClanahan was born March 26, 1936, to Esther Lee Knight Wells, of Bolivar, Hardeman County, Tennessee. She was the youngest of Esther Lee's four daughters, her older sisters being, Katherine, Mary and Dolores. When Shirley was 15 years old, they moved to south Texas, where in October 1958, Shirley married the love of her life, Lawrence McClanahan. Together they had two daughters, Charlotte and Sharon.
Shirley was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt, and great-aunt. She was preceded in death by her mother Esther Lee Knight, and sister Mary "Dottie" Wells Spencer.
Shirley passed away on March 21, 2011, in Weatherford, Texas, surrounded by her family. She knew she was loved.
