He was a retired captain with the Dyersburg Fire Department, a retired staff sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps serving in the Vietnam War, a member of the Fowlkes Baptist Church and former Scoutmaster.
Services with full honors of the Dyersburg Fire Department will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Melton and the Rev. Joe Wright officiating.
Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Marie Jacks of Memphis; a son, Lynn Allan Jacks (Rebecca) of Fowlkes; a brother, Routon Mathis of Chattanooga; and two grandchildren, Holly Jacks of Cordova and Robert Jacks of Fowlkes.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora E. Jones Jacks; his parents, Melvin Lee and Lula Mae Price Jacks; and two sisters, Robbie King and Willie Mae Bailey.
