JAMES D. TONOLINI JR.
1954-2011
James D. Tonolini Jr., 56, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 26, at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane Washington.
Jim was born to James and Lorette (Martineau) Tonolini in Rumford, Maine on October 24, 1954. He spent his childhood and adolescent years in Mexico, Maine enjoying the great outdoors and making lifelong friends. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and enjoyed a highly distinguished career serving his country. He served during both the Vietnam War and the Persian Gulf Conflict before retiring in 1992. He then moved to Spokane, Washington to be closer to family.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, and most notably, fishing. While living in New England, he fished on a competitive bass circuit where he received many honors and awards. After moving to Washington State, he happily embranced salmon, steelhead, and sturgeon fishing as well. He was never happier than he was on the water with a good friend and a fishing pole in hand.
Jim was married in Mexico, Maine on December 18, 1971, to Brenda Hallett, his loving wife of 39 years.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda, formerly of Rumford, Maine; two daughters, Susan and her husband, Philippe Nault, of Ottawa, Canada, and Sheri Frantilla, and her partner, Nikki Williams, of Spokane, Washington. He had four adoring grandchildren: Seth, Michelle, Christina, and Ryan; and many loyal friends. He also leaves behind a special stepmother, Syliva Tonolini; and two loving sisters, Tina Payton, of Mexico, Maine, and Linda Tonolini, of Lake Worth, Florida.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, Washington at 1:30pm. A gathering of friends will follow at the family's home.
