Lewis, Lydia G. - At rest December 22, 1993. Born in Fresno, CA. A resident of San Francisco for 48 years. Devoted wife of the late John J. Gross for 30 years and the late Stanley Finegold for 32 years. Beloved mother of Shirley Jean Scovill of South San Francisco, and John Allen Gross of Sunnyvale. Dear sister of Hannah Gross of San Mateo, and Ted Scheidt of Fresno. Cherished grandmother of Linda Machado of Foster City, Sandra Tuvera, Carol Alvarez, Teresa Patane, and David Scovill, all of South San Francisco; John Gross, Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, Lisa Gross of Fairfield, Jennifer Freedy of Vacaville. Loving great-grandmother of Michael and Grace Machado, Bryan and Tracee Tuvera, Jennifer and Ramon Alvarez, Christina and Jonathan Patane, Karen and Michelle Scovill, and Janna Freedy. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Employed by the San Francisco Chronicle, then the News-Call Bulletin until her retirement. Member of the Northern California Newspaper Guild, Local 52 in San Francisco; Order of the Eastern Star Mission Masonic Temple Chapter 99 in San Francisco; Women of the Moose, Home Chapter 0 also in San Francisco. She will be dearly missed by many family members and friends. "May Jesus smile on you this day, and shed His blessings on your way."

Visitors may call from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 26, 1993 at GARDEN CHAPEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 885 El Camino Real, South San Francisco. Friends are cordially invited to attend Funeral Services on Monday, December 27, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary, followed by a commital and entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Colma.
