John Bradford Pittman, 2Nd. Went to Louisana to administer the estate of John Bradford Pittman , his uncle.

Aug.6,1903 John Bradford Pittman,2Nd. bought land in Parish of Lafourch, state of Louisiana from the New Orleans from one child of his Aunt, Caroline Pittman on Aug.6,1903 conveyance book 38 page 686. Horace, a minor, was represented by Priscilla Ann Pittman, his duly appointed guardian. This was the land which later lead to one of the largest law suits in the state of Louisana between the Pittmans, Texaco against squatters due to lost tax receipts. Pittmans were represented by Cotton Law firm for interest in land. They lost the majority of the suit. Current holdings by the family is what was awarded during this suit.


March 2, 1904 John Bradford Pittman, 2Nd, son of Ruffin Pittman and executor of John Bradford Pittman, 2Nd. estate sells Oak Grove Plantation to Joseph White Libby and Louis A. Blouin for Sum of $45,000.00, $32900.00 in cash and remainder in notes, due in $2000.00 increments for six years. Plantation sold on behalf of his father Ruffin who inherited it from his brother John Bradford Pittman. Taxes for 1903 were $413.35 on assessed value of $14,050.00.

Jan. 28, 1905 John Bradford Pittman, 2Nd Bought Oak Alley Plantation, St. James Parrish, Louisana with partner Etienne O.Hotard from Antoine Sobral for a total sum of $61,000.00, payable $30,000.00 cash and $31,000.00 in five equal notes over five years. Plantation consisted of 1350 acres, with 850 acres under cultivation and using 40 mules, located on west bank of Mississippi River.
John Bradford Pittman, 2Nd Lived at Oak Alley plantation for several years with his wife Ethel Tucker.

Jan. 18, 1911 John Bradford Pittman, 2Nd Sold Oak Alley Plantation to Efraim Rosemberg of New Orleans., asking sale price $70.000.00. Title transferred recorded 9/25/1916. Mortgage help as part payment. Saint James Parish Book28, Folio 323. Final price not given.

1916 John Bradford Pittman,2Nd. was a resident of East Baton Rouge Parrish, Louisana

He later returned to North Carolina and ran a buisness in Norlina, Warren County, North Carolina


1927 Died stroke and Brights disease. Leona Lawrence was with him when he died in Norlina, North Carolina. He was brought home and buried in Whitakers Chapel , Halifax County, North Carolina

He did not have any children.
