Samantha was a "mantuamaker" (later called a dress maker) which was one of the first businesses a woman could own.

Samantha Clark of Charlotteville Township purchased land at Charlotteville Township from her father on 3 Jun 1823. On 14 Jul 1830, James B. Clark of Ancaster purchased land at Beverly Township, Wentworth County from David W. Barnum and then sold it on 25 Apr 1832 to David Rymal. The family moved to Newark, New Jersey where her son John N. Clark, heir-at-law, lived when he sold the land of Samantha Moore Clark, deceased, to Charles Francis Beaupre on 15 Feb 1848. At that time, his father James B. Clark was "late of Newark, New Jersey."
