Funeral services for Michael Scott DeVore, M.D. were held October 23, 2008 at St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church with burial in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. DeVore was born March 22, 1948 in Richmond, Indiana to Phyllis Rose Williams and Robert Charles William. He was adopted by his stepfather, Dr. Marion S. DeVore, in 1955. Michael died peacefully at the Hospice Inpatient facility at Memorial Hospital, October 19, 2008, surrounded by family, friends and the compassionate Hospice staff.

Michael graduated from Memorial High School in Houston in 1966 and from Texas A & M University in 1969. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and did his 1-year internship and 2-year Residency in Internal Medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, completing his training in 1976.

He began is practice of medicine by joining the Ledbetter Clinic Internal Medicine group in Houston in 1976. In 1982, he, Nancy and Chris decided they wanted a simpler life, so they moved to East Texas where he began his solo practice in Corrigan.

In 1991 he left his practice in Corrigan to practice as an Emergency Physician at Woodland Heights Medical Center, Memorial Health Systems, and various other hospitals and clinis throughout the East Texas area.

After an extened illness compelled him to change his work lifestyle, he joined the excellent health care team at the Lufkin State School in March 2007, where he continued to work until l 1/2 weeks before his death.
