Elder John D. (J.D.) Belton age 79 of 123 Bank Street, Mt. Airy husband of Mrs. Lena Delores Jones Belton passed away Wednesday morning, March 30, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born June 5, 1931 in Surry County, NC to the late John Henry and Lelia Alice Flippin Belton. He was a retired automobile mechanic and was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean War. Elder Belton was a member of Love's Grove Primitive Baptist Church and was presently serving as pastor of both Love's Grove Primitive Baptist Church and Stuart Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife, Lena (Delores) Jones Belton of the home,, a son and daughter-in-law, John Keith and Katrina Belton, Tobaccoville, NC, three grandchildren and spouse, Kristy B Hurst and Steven, Jacksonville, FL, Kameryn Belton and Katelyn Belton both of Tobaccoville, NC, and four great grandchildren, Shyanne Miranda and Brock Miranda, Tori Hurst and Taylor Hurst. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2011 conducted by Elder Gleason Worrell. Burial will follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Memorial Honor Guard, VFW Post 2019, Mt. Airy and VFW Post 9436, Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Suite 999, Charlotte, NC 28215-3220.
