Josette E. (Kincheloe) Kuntz was born December 9, 1923, in Brush, Colorado, the third child of Walter W. and Anna Sophia (Christoffersen) Kincheloe. She died on March 23, 2011 in Yuma, Colorado. Josette was the last living sibling of seven children. Josette's father was a railroader and they moved frequently, though she spent most of her childhood in Pinneo, Colorado. Some of Josette's fondest childhood memories were of the many train trips back to Virginia to visit her grandparents or hopping the train to Denver to shop at the Denver Dry Goods store. Josette graduated from Akron High School in 1941 and attended Colorado A & M (Colorado State University). She worked for the ASCS office and was a soda jerk at the Drug Store in Akron before starting a family.

Josette married Edward Charles Kuntz on August 29, 1944 in Akron, Colorado on a Tuesday afternoon, just before he left for his service in the Army. After he returned from his service they settled on the farm north of Otis. They were blessed with six sons and four daughters.

Ed died on October 29, 1990.

Josette was proud of her family and enjoyed keeping up with all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and their numerous activities. She also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, reading, crocheting, knitting, her flower garden, bird watching and making quilts for her family. Josette spent many summers helping to prepare many 4-H students for the county fair as the Cooking Leader for the Otis Cracker Jacks 4-H Club. She especially enjoyed staying in contact with her family from Denmark and was excited to be able to travel to Denmark for a visit.

Each of Josette's grandchildren have many fond memories of the time that they spent at Grandma's house, whether it was baking cookies, having special lunches, sleepovers or just spending the afternoon with her.

Josette was preceded in death by her parents and husband Ed; son Chuck; great grandson Morgan Fuller; sisters Mary Minter, Betty Ann Curlee, Bille Mae Severin, and Jean Decker, brothers Bud Kincheloe and Walt Kincheloe; brother-in-law's Paul Minter, Wayne Curlee, Ed Eisenman and her in-laws Charles and Margaret Kuntz.

She is survived by her sons and daughters and their spouses; her grandchildren
and their families; and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews.

Josette also leaves behind many lifelong friends and her family and friends at Yuma Life Care. Her family is grateful for all the comfort, care and love that was provided by the wonderful staff there.

A Rosary was held on Sunday evening, March 27, at 6:30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Akron. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, March 28, at 10:00 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Akron, Colorado. Baucke Funeral Home of Yuma directed the service.
The family requests Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers.
