"Joseph F. Binkley
Bristol Township, Pa. - Joseph F. "Jake" Binkley, 73 died Monday at Delaware Valley Medical Center, Falls Township. Born in Quarryville, Mr. Binkley was a 50-year resident of Bristol Township, and was formerly of Newtown. He was an auto mechanic for 40 years and retired from Weed Chevrolet in Bristol. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Morell Smith Post No. 440 of the American Legion, Newtown; the Morrisville V.F.W., the Tin Can Soldiers of Somerset, Mass., and the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association of Orlando, Fla. He was a life member of the Newtown Historic Association, and he attended the Newtown United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne E. Rumpfer Binkley; a daughter, Judith A. Rexrode of Levittown; a sister Gladys Anderson of Eugene, Ore. three grandchildren, Sylvia, Joseph and Beryl; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Charles F. Swartz Funeral Home Ltd., Washington and Lincoln avenues, Newtown.
Burial will be in Newtown Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Newtown United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, Liberty St., Newtown, Pa. 18940, or to Newtown American Legion Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 252, Newtown, Pa. 18940."
