Louise G. Arnold of Chadds Ford

Louise G. Arnold, 91, of Chadds Ford, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2011 with her family at her side.

Daughter, wife, mother, friend and lover of nature, Mrs. Arnold was born in Phoenixville on September 1, 1919 and was the only girl along with six younger brothers.

She was an avid reader and graduated in one of the top three spots in her high school class of nearly one thousand. As a graduate of then, West Chester State Teachers College, she taught math at Henderson High School. During WWII when Louise was not working at a lab to support the war effort, she was a spotter for enemy aircraft. Among the many places she traveled later in life was the Panama Canal, where her father had worked during its construction; Cape May and Williamsburg were trips made every year. The Phillies have lost a loyal fan, when they were playing, Louise would not eat, sleep or do anything but watch the game.

Mrs. Arnold was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Eva Graham, her husband Charles and five of her six brothers. She is survived by her children David, Anne and Kenny; brother Mac and his wife Carolyn, sisters-in-law Erna and Virginia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, Del., on Saturday April 2 with visitation starting at 11:30 a.m. and the service at 12:30 p.m., immediately followed by burial at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 West Pleasant Grove Rd. West Chester, PA 19382.
