Rev. A.R. Reichel for Bloomy Matthews, who passed away Monday Evening at Edinburg, Illinois. Interment was made in the Beecher City, Cemetery, Beecher City, Illinois.

Barned Bloomfield Matthews, son of William and Adaline Matthews died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.W. Larimore at 11:45 pm Tuesday August 24 1931 following an illness of but three years.

He was born near Cowden, Illinois, May 16, 1855, being at this time of his death 76 years, 3 months, and 8 days of age.

On December 22, 1881 he was united in marriage with Ida Mae Spivey, who preceded him in death on December 15, 1922. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Pearl Will, Altamont, Illinois; Ambrus Matthews who died March 2, 1922; Mrs. R.W. Larimore, Mount Auburn, Illinois; and Charles Matthews , Springfield, Illinois.

At an early age he united with the Methodist Church of Holliday, Illinois and later with the Free Methodist Church, Cowden, Illinois remaining a faithful Christian until called home.

He leaves to mourn his departure the children; brother B.B. Matthews, Springfield, Illinois; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchildren, who were a great pleasure to him in his last years. Also a host of others relatives and friends.
