Claude M. Burton, 54, xxx-10th East, died Wednesday at 5 a.m. at his residence of a heart ailment. A well-known Salt Lake accountant, Mr. Burton was born Dec. 5, 1893, in Centerville, the son of Charles W. and Josephine Evans Burton. He attended public schools in Salt Lake City and was graduated from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While practicing his profession in that city, Mr. Burton obtained his license as a certified public accountant. He was employed by Hasken and Sells and the Los Angeles branch of General Motors Co. At the time of his death Mr. Burton was an accountant for the department of employment security. He had been employed in that capacity for the past five years. Previously, he had been employed by the Goddard-Abbey Co., accountants, in Salt Lake City. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he married Louisea Thiriot April 25, 1917, in Salt Lake City. Mr. Burton also was a member of the American Legion. Besides his widow he is survived by five daughters: Claudia, Caroline and Ruth Burton and Mrs. Charlotte Ramsey and Mrs. Elenore Saathoff, Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. Violet Hanks, and a brother, Malcolm Burton, Los Angeles, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at LeGrand L D S ward chapel, 1078 McClelland st., 1040 East. Friends may call at 260 E. South Temple Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the family home Saturday. Burial will be in Salt Lake City cemetery.
