Mr. Alvarado was born Nov. 3, 1916, in Sonora, Mexico, and had worked as a bricklayer and hod carrier on various construction jobs on the Monterey Peninsula for the past 38 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Salinas post of the American legion.
He is survived by four brothers, Pete of Monterey, and Phil, Manuel and Nick, all of Seaside; two sisters, Virginia Lucero of Monterey and Florence Trujillo of Seaside, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be recited at 8 o'clock tonight at St. Angela's Catholic Church in Pacific Grove. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m., also at the church, under the direction of Mission Mortuary. Burial with full military honors will be in San
Carlos Cemetery in Monterey.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Hospice of the Monterey Peninsula.
