Services for James Edward Deeds, 78, Ozark, were held January 11th in Adams Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Howard Blevins officiating. Burial was in Ozark Cemetery. Mr. Deeds died January 9th in St. John's Regional Health Center, Springfield.

He was born in the Ancon Canal Zone in Panama, and lived most of his youth in Christian county on the farm his parents, Ed and Clara Deeds had.

He was a patient at the Nevada State Hospital No. 3 for 48 years, and then spent his remaining years at the Christian County Nursing Home in Ozark until his death.

Edward never married nor had any children. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, Clay Caldwell Deeds, his sister, Helen Hazel Gimlin, and his parents, Edward F. Deeds and Clara Maude Deeds.

Survivors include two sisters, Josephine Rahm Nelson, Sparta and Dorothy Engelage, Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.
