Grim Reaper Claims Aged Woman

The Grim Reaper has again descended into our midst, this time taking another of our aged Fillmore ladies.

Mary Ann Wastel Williams was born in London, England, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wastel in 1832.

In 1859, having embraced the Mormon faith in England, she came to this country coming direct to Utah and Settling in Holden. There she married her first husband, who later died and she then remarried, the second husband also passing away. She then removed to Fillmore, where she became the wife of Charles Williams who has also preceded her to the Great Beyond. She had seven children by her last marriage, three of whom are living.

They are: Mrs. Alice Dalton of Beaver, Mrs. Lydia Lighter of Ogden and William Williams of Fillmore. She also had 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She has completed a life of great usefulness and has merited her reward of a place at the right hand of Him who noteth even a Sparrow's fall.

A large crowd of friends and sympathizers thronged the Chapel at her funeral which took place on Tuesday, and a large funeral cortege followed the remains to their last resting place in the City Cemetery.
