MARY L. SHIFLETT GENTRY
Mary Lena Gentry, 85, of Earlysville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002. Born Aug. 13, 1916, in March, she was the daughter of Eddie and Annie Laura Conley Shifflett. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Earl Gentry; her loving son, Edward E. Gentry; three sisters; and five brothers. She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Baber and her husband, Bill; and daughter-in-law, Nancy Gentry, all of Earlysville; granddaughters, Connie Dunn, Craig Dunn, and Kathy DeGraf; grandsons, Mark Baber and his wife, Shawn, and David Gentry and his wife, Cathy, all of Charlottesville; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Dunn, Jessica, Jennifer, and Daniel DeGraf, and Rebekah and Jonathan Gentry; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was a member of Nortonsville Church of God. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a living example to her children and friends. Above all, she loved the Lord and made this know to everyone. She visited the sick in nursing homes and spread he message and shared her faith wherever she could. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at Teague Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nortonsville Church of God, by the Rev. David Allison. Interment will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens. The family wishes to send special thanks to Dr. Robert Gibson and the staff of the fourth floor, east and central, at the University of Virginia Medical Center for their care.
