Mr. J. R. White, aged 57, who lived in Escambia County near Boykin, died
Thursday night at twelve o'clock, as a result of injuries received when a tree
fell on him Wednesday. He was buried Friday afternoon at five o'clock at
Damascus Cemetery.

Mr. White was driving a dog team, when the cart came in touch with a dead tree,
causing it to fall across his shoulders. This happened about four miles from
home, Wednesday evening at seven o'clock. Medical aid was summoned to him, but
the injury proved fatal.

He leaves a wife and seven children, all married except one. He has four
brothers and five sister as follows: W. L. White of Route F., H. E. White of
Route D., R. F. White of Brewton, Route A., J. W. White of near DeFuniak
Springs, Fla., Mrs. W. J. Brown of Route D., Mrs. W. J. Teel, of Route F., Mrs.
K. B. Brown of Montgomery, Mrs. S. A. Tart of Brewton Route A, and Mrs. Leonard
Lindsey of Route F..

Mr. White was the first of his fine family to die.
