Leslie C. Barlett, 85, of New Bethlehem, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 3, 2002, in the Brookville Hospital.

Born May 29, 1917, in Porter Township, Clarion County, he was the son of Lewis Calvin and Ida Pearl Cochell Barlett.

Mr. Barlett was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II. He worked at Crawford Furniture Co. from 1955 until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Barlett was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Bethlehem and the American Baptist Churches of the U.S.A. He enjoyed attending the Men's Prayer Breakfasts held in
New Bethlehem. He also was a member of the VFW Club and the American Legion, both of New Bethlehem

Mr. Barlett was married May 28, 1948, to the former H. Maxine Swigart, who died April 29, 1987.

Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Vicki and William Carlson of Brookville; three sons and their wives, Gary and Sandy Barlett of New Bethlehem, Randy and Victoria Barlett of Brookville and Jeff and Wanda Barlett of Strattanville; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Barlett was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Paul.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Rupert Funeral Home in New Bethlehem. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County.
