Dennis A. Arrington, age 58, of Austell, died April 6, 2003. A retired Fire Battalion Chief with Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services where he served from 1971 to 2000. During his career he helped establish a number of special
operations including the Hazardous Materials Team, Trench Rescue Team, Stress Debriefing Team and Peer Counseling Team. He was a Georgia Certified Fire Instructor and served on numerous promotional boards for his department.
Demonstrating his love for his fellow Firefighters, he was instrumental in establishing and maintaining the Cobb County Firefighters' Benevolent Fund, and the Cobb County Firefighters' Death Benefit Fund. He was a charter member of
Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs where he enjoyed
singing tenor in the choir and being a part of the Men's Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nancy Kennedy Arrington, one son, Brian W. Arrington, one
daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Mark Mabry, and step-granddaughter, Mishaun Mabry, all of Austell, one brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Dale Arrington of Lithia
Springs, and many other loving relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Cobb County Firefighters' Benevolent Fund, the Cobb County Firefighters' Death Benefit Fund, Macland Baptist Church Building Fund, or your favorite Cancer oranization. Services will be 11 a.m.
Wednesday at Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs with the Rev. Dr. Richard Walker, Rev. Johnny Foster, Chaplain Ted McLung, and Chaplain Angelo Hunter officiating. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial
will be in Powder Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. nd 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. .
