Solomon was the son of Samuel and Lydia (Jennison) Wheat. He married Ann Ripley in 1725. They had eight [prob seven] children.

According to the Wheat Genealogy (pp13-14), Solomon and Ann (Ripley) Wheat had: Sarah, Solomon (prob. d.y.), Mary, Anne, Hannah, Jemima, and Elizabeth. Ann (Ripley) Wheat died before 17 Feb 1747, when Solomon Sr married Margaret Green of Windham CT. The second Solomon Jr was the son of this second wife.

Jemima Wheat married Joseph Morse, and was a resident of Athol, MA, when Joseph was killed at the Battle of Freeman's Farm (aka Saratoga) in 1777. She and several children moved to Concord, VT, where she appeared in records and likely died, but no burial information has been found.
