Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake with Reverend Douglas Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 2, 2003 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m.
Mildred E. Bartels was born November 15, 1919 to Herman and Maria (Schweer) Bartels at Tobias, Nebraska. She was baptized November 27, 1919 and confirmed April 9, 1933 at the Zion Lutheran Church at Tobias. She received her education at Zion Lutheran Parochial School at Tobias.
Mildred moved to Storm Lake in the spring of 1938. She did house work for different families for the next ten years. At that time she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, rural Storm Lake. She transferred her membership to St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake in 1948.
Starting in 1949, Mildred began working for Drs. Hansen and Prescott at the Buena Vista Clinic until she retired in 1987. She taught Sunday School at St. John's for 18 years. She was a member of the Choir and the Altar Guild.
Mildred is survived by two brothers, Victor and wife Mathilda Bartels and Eldo and wife Neoma Bartels both of Storm Lake, and a nephew, Dan and wife Desiree Bartels.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Gertrude.
