Elmo Leon Worlow Sr. 1913 - 2005
Elmo Leon Worlow Sr., 91, a retired sign and sheet metal employee, went to be with "The Man Upstairs" Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at a Richland Hills care center.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Biggers Funeral Chapel. Burial: Azleland Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Biggers Funeral Home.
Elmo was born Dec. 21, 1913, in Fort Worth and had lived in the Azle-Springtown area most of his life. He also lived and worked in Spokane, Wash.
Elmo spent his last year at Alterra Sterling House, where he had many wonderful friends and caregivers. He touched all with his good nature and sense of humor.
For many years, Elmo and his wife of 24 years, Lurline, practiced their faith in God at the Community Bible Fellowship Church in Azle. He always started his prayers by saying, "Thank you, Lord, for this yet another day."
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Rowan Worlow; and mother, Lillie Haynes.
Survivors: Wife, Lurline M. Worlow; children, E.L. "Leon" Worlow Jr. and Dennis Worlow of Fort Worth; stepchildren, J.L. Starr and Sam Starr of Washington, Jeanne Awai of Hawaii, Liz Choate of Arizona, William Farris of Weatherford, Linda Lucas of Haltom City and Stella Novotny of Montgomery; sisters, Dutch Davis and June Record of Fort Worth and Florence Hand of Azle; brother, George Worlow of Beaumont; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Elmo was first married about 1932 to Cleo Mae Burton, the mother of his two sons, Elmo 'Leon' Worlow, JR and Dennis Worlow. Elmo and Cleo also had a daughter, Janis LaVerne Worlow, born November 24, 1936, Dallas, Texas, died Aug 10, 1937 in Dallas, Dallas Co, Texas, buried August 11, 1937, in Elmswood Cemetery, Dallas, Texas. Janis lived only eight months and 16 days.
