John is survived by his wife, Suzi McCandless Sanders; daughter, Denise Rene Sanders-Tonner and husband, Darren Tonner "D.J." of Spring. TX; sons, Shannon Sanders and wife, Karyl of Maui, HI and Darrin Sweat II and wife, Wendy of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Carrie Lynn Anderson, Michael Jay Sanders, Alice BrookeAnn Sweat and Faith LillyAnn Sweat; 3 great-granddaughters; mother, Erna Lee Sanders of Shenandoah, TX; and sisters, Jessie Mackey of Grangerland, TX and Cynthia and husband Kenneth Boyles of Shenandoah,TX, and a multitude of extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his father, John D. Sanders, Sr., and his son Eric Sanders.
Note:
As a Christian John had a mission of giving away Bibles. He never missed an opportunity to witness to others about the Lord. He touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with and was loved by everyone who knew him. He had a gift of mentoring to the young and they adored him.
Norma Jean Shipp was his biological mother, however from the age of 9 months he was raised by Erna Lee Sanders, the mother he loved and cherished. He loved life and lived it to the fullest as long as he could. He fought a courageous battle against cancer. He is now with the Lord and pain free.
