Ardmore — Betty Jean Buck, 81, went to be with her Heavenly Father early in the morning of March 26, 2011, at her home in Ardmore, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at CrystalRock Cathedral, Ardmore, Okla. with the Reverend Walt Spradling officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, Okla.

Born on August 12, 1929, in Ardmore, Okla., to Mr. James Monroe Herring and Mrs. Ethel Elberta (Hickman) Herring, Betty Jean was raised in Ardmore, Okla. Married to her childhood sweetheart, Charles Ray Buck, on New Year's Eve, December 31, 1947, she was proud of their sixty-three years together. As they raised their two sons, she was an avid fan and could always be counted on to be in the stands cheering for them and their teammates.

Betty Jean loved her family and was known by one and all as "Grams," a name bestowed by her granddaughter. After working for seventeen years as a secretary at Lincoln Elementary, she retired to become a homemaker and companion to her husband. They could often be seen in their travel trailer beating a path to various campgrounds. She will be remembered for her unshakable faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A Christian from a tender young age, she has been a member of CrystalRock Cathedral for twenty-six years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Jackie Davis, Billie Eaton, and Louise Clark.

Betty Jean is survived by her husband, Charles Buck, of the home; son, Wayne Buck and wife, Linda, of Tulsa, Okla. and son, Jim Buck and wife, Kathy, of Ardmore, Okla.; granddaughter, Tiffany McAdams and husband, Peter of Minneapolis, Minn.; grandson, Matthew Buck and wife, Amy of Tulsa, Okla.; and grandson, Trent Buck and wife, Ashley, of Ft. Polk, Louisiana; six great-grandchildren, Clayton, Jordan, Tucker, Harper, Adeline, and Elaina; brother-in-law, Tommy Buck and his wife, Linda. All of us will greatly miss her, yet we celebrate her heavenly homecoming.

Serving as pallbearers will be Al Peoples, Larry Barrick, Gene Jones, Dale Hunter, Recie Holliman and Ronnie Burns. The ushers of CrystalRock Cathedral will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family of Betty Jean will greet visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday evening, March 28, 2011, at Griffin-Hillcrest.
