Marshall McNeil Keith was educated at the Harperville Academy and Millsaps College where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. After moving to Carthage, he became editor and publisher of The Carthaginian for more than 40 years. He was a Rotarian, a Mason, member of the Board of Directors and organizing member of the Carthage Bank, which he also served as a Vice-Pres. The Keiths lived all their married life in Carthage where they were both active in the Baptist Church. She taught the Ladies Bible Class for many years and he taught the Men's Bible Class and was a member of the Board of Deacons. They were active in civic and social affairs also.
