Texas Byrne Rhea Rogers was born in Arkansas, the fourth of twelve children born to William Porter Rhea and Mary Ann byrne.

On April 30, 1882 she married Mathew Wesley Rogers. Seven children are known to have been born to the couple; one died in childhood. The family removed to Texas about 1885. They lived briefly in Oklahoma, around 1900, where her husband worked as a minister, but they returned to Texas prior to 1910. Her husband preceded her in death on April 28, 1939 at the age of 81.
