A life resident of Potomac, he was a member of the Methodist Church and had been active in the Lions Club, the American Legion, and the Vermilion County Bankers Association. He had been active in community and civic affairs for many years.
Born March 20, 1916, he was the son of Ulysses S. and Margaret French Goodwine. He was graduated from Potomac High School in 1934, the University of Illinois in 1938 and had been associated with the Goodwine State Bank about 20 years.
He was a member of the U.S. Armed Forces in World War II and served in Europe two years.
He married the former June Elvidge, April 20, 1941, in Hoopeston and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, John Edmund and Douglas James, both at home, and a sister, Mrs. Frank (Lois) Andrews of Potomac. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today (Friday) at the Methodist Church with Rev. Raymond Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Potomac Cemetery.
