Margaret C Boneske, 97, Athens, died Mar 24, 2011, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Our House Assisted Living, Wausau.
She is the third oldest of ten brothers and sisters. Margaret was born Nov 28, 1913, in Saskatchewan, Canada, where her dad grew wheat and worked as a carpenter. When she was 12, the family moved to Wisconsin to her grandmother's farm just outside of Abbotsford.
On Feb 24, 1932, she married Arnold Boneske in Athens. He preceded her in death Aug 7, 1993. Margaret farmed with her husband for many years in the town of Bern and the town of Halsey. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Roy (Caroline) Boneske, and Kenneth (Viola Downing) Boneske, both of Athens; one daughter, Darlene (Donald) Zietlow, Wausau; one sister, Ruby (Elmer) France, Wausau; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Susan (Shimler) Merwin; one son, Gerald Boneske; three great-grandchildren, Luke, Zachary and Travis Boneske; three sisters, Lillian Eggebrecht, Valerie Kundo and Marjorie Zoromski; and five brothers, Aaron, George, Archie, Ralph and Leland Merwin.
