Asa Morgan Cooper was born October 15, 1835, in Hampshire County, Virginia, and in the year 1857 he went to Highland County, Ohio, where he married Mary E. Rhodes in the winter of 1861. To this union one son. His whereabouts is unknown today. They came to Miami county, this state in 1882 and moved to Louisburg and later moved on a farm near Bucyrus, Kansas, where his wife died February 14, 1883. Both were converted and joined the Methodist church in Ohio and lived a consistant christian life until death.
The funeral services was held from the South Methodist church in Bucyrus, Kansas at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, March 3, 1910. Rev. E.G. Cooms past of Louisburg M.E. church officiating. A large number of friends and neighbors attended the funeral. Mr. Cooper was buried in the Louisburg cemetery at the side of his beloved wife.
