Allen was the son of the late Charles M. & Marion Wiggins Curry. He was the twin brother of Adrian Curry.

Allen "worked part time in auto mechanics and body and fender work...He joined the U. S. Army in June 1960 and served in Swabish Hall, Germany, as a mechanic in the 36th Howitzer Artillery..."
After an honorable discharge from the Army, "he worked briefly as custodian at the Newport News Naval Shipyard. In October 1965, he went to work at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren and retired in 1996...
"He and Elaine Onetia Campbell were married December 21, 1963..." They had three children, Charmaine, Robert Allen, Jr. and Austin.
"He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister.
"He is survived by brothers Adrian, Charles, Enos and Marion.
"A funeral was held March 19 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Kilmarnock. Interment followed at the Curry Family Cemetery on Wiggins Avenue."
