HE INVITED DEATH.
----------------------------
Rufus Condie Early Wearied of Life and Takes Paris Green.
-------------------------
HAD EVERY INDDUCEMENT TO LIVE.
-------------------------
Amid Pleasant Home, Friends and Comfort He Desires to Die.---Did Not Betray the Slightest Agitation---Threw the Dry Powder in his Mouth Then Took the Water--- Prompt, Vigorous Actions Resuscitate Him and Saves His Life.

A suicide was attempted last night singular is the fact that he would have taken his life had every thing that makes life living--health, youth, work, friends, and a happy home. He who endeavored to shuffle off the mortal coli was Rufus Condie a well grove lad of 17 years of age living at 145 North Main Street. He is a loomlaer, working in a Ryle Avenue Mill at the usual hour, he came home for supper, of which he partook heartily.

These was nothing strange in his actions and he appeared to be in excellent spirits and talked merrily to his sister. After supper he assisted his little nephews who were at his home with lessons. Putting on his hat and coat he said to his folks he thought he would go out and see the parade.

On going outside he went direct to Nassey's Drug Store on North Main Street. Here he ordered five cents worth of Paris Green telling the clerk who asked him about it was to that it was to poison rats. The clerk gave him the drug. Then young Condie went towards home meeting a young companion in a yard who had come to see him. Together they walked to a pump nearby. Condie began deliberately untying the little parcel talking of another subject all the while. When he had it opened he picked up what he could of the powder and threw it in his mouth and then took a drink of water. He never indicated to his companion what he took nor did the latter suspect. Back towards the house they walked. Condie began to feel excruciating pain and he murmured to his companion that he had taken Paris Green.

At this juncture they were joined by more acquaintances of their own age. Condie soon lost all control of himself and the lads carried him back to the drug store where he had bought the poison.Antidotes were given at once and everything to resuscitate was done til the ambulance arrived. He was taken to the General Hospital where the doctors succeeded in bringing him back to consciousness and eventually the effect of the drug partially wore off and he was pronounced out of danger.

It was a very peticuliar case as for reason for his actions cant be surmised nor does he venture one himself. In the ambulance when they asked why he poisoned himself. He said, "I am tired of life. Don't ask me." His home surroundings were the pleasantries and most cheerful. He has had steady work and seemed to enjoy it. He was addicted to bad habits. No motive for his reasons has yet been surmised.
