RICHARD KENNETH "DICK" ANDERSON

Dick Anderson, 67, of New Hope, Minnesota, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Methodist Hospital of liver failure and complications of cirrhosis. Throughout his illness and when the end came, he died peacefully surrounded by family who loved him.
Born in Minneapolis, September 3, 1933, to Kenneth and Doris Anderson. At 9 months old came west to live in Jordan. Dick attendend schools in Montana through 1st grade then moved back to Minnesota.
As a boy, Dick spent several summers in Jordan with his Grandma Bess and Aunt Rose. He grew to love the "Big Sky," ranches, Hell Creek, the town of Jordan and most importantly the people who lived and worked there. Later, as a man, he returned as often as he could. He kept updated by receiving the Jordan Tribune at his home in New Hope. He talked of buying a house in town. His bags were packed in early June to come back, possibly to stay. We knew Dick's heart belonged to the wide open spaces and you.
Proceeded (sic) in death by his father, Kenneth. Survived by mother, Doris, his children, Michele Anderson, Cindy Price, and Knute Anderson, 6 grandchildren, his sisters, Nancy and Carol, 3 nephews and 2 nieces. Over 200 friends and family attended funeral services in Minnesota on July 9 and 10.
At his request, Dick will be buried in Montana. If you knew him, please join us at the Hearts of Peace Cemetery on Saturday, August 25 at 11:00 a.m. for a small gathering. Our family would be honored by your presence.

We recall a few of them now to share with you.
He was Wayzata High School 1952 senior class president, called the "Pepsodent Kid" because of his dazzling smile. He lettered in football, track and wrestling, and was a "Golden Glove" boxer of great accomplishment.
Dick spent 5 years in the Naval Reserves and traveled to wonderful places in the Caribbean.
He liked road trips and visiting people all over the U.S.A. His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, and watching lots of football. He knew all the NFL teams.
He married Shirley Heisler and together they had 3 children, Michele, Cindy and Knute. Both Dick and Shirley worked for "Ma Bell" (now U.S. West) for over 30 years.
He was the proud grandpa of 6 grandchildren, James Reid, Meghan, Holly Price and Nicolle, Jeneen, and Mitchell Anderson.
"Grandpa Anderson" attended many sporting events over the years watching his grandchildren compete in baseball, football and soccer. He lit up in a smile whenever he was talking to the kids.
Dick was a devoted son to his mother, Doris. He made daily visits to check on her needs and helped her with chores. Sometimes they spent the time in quiet companionship, other times in spirited lively conversations.
He had two sisters, Nancy Reimer and Carol Kistler. Dick often teased them without mercy. As a "big brother" he was loyal and fiercely protective.
He was lovingly known as "Uncle Dick" to Jason, Kenneth, Stay Reimer and Amanda and Gregory Kistler.
In the end his family was close by and he left this earth knowing he was loved. He will be remembered and missed by many.
