Mrs. Knappenberger was born in Ducktown, Tenn. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Cape Hatteras Anglers Club, and was past president of the Seawitches. She won awards from Virginia and North Carolina game fisheries. She was formerly one of the country's top anglers and was honored by Field & Stream magazine.
Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Knappenberger of Virginia Beach; and a half sister, Lucille Dickens of Clyde, N.Y.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road, by the Rev. Paul L. Kettner. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park.
