Brenda Sue Burd, age 61, Joplin, passed away at 6:53 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at St. John's Regional Medical Center Brady Building.
Brenda was born May 17, 1949 in Globe, Arizona to the late Francis Gilmore and Edna Gilmore.
She had lived in the Joplin area the past 11 years.
Brenda was a homemaker and loved animals. She considered her home as a make-shift shelter for needy or neglected animals.
She married Daniel Casey Burd on January 3, 1977 in Encampment, Wyoming. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2005.
Survivors include four children, Johnny Cleveland, Kansas, Lisa Atkins, Joplin, Chris Burd, Joplin, William Burd, Prescott, Arizona; brothers and sisters, Thomas Gilmore and wife, Bev, Joplin, Fred Gilmore, Joplin, James Gilmore, Arizona, Mike Gilmore and wife, Jane, Carthage, Jerry Gilmore, Texas, Marilyn Cleveland, Kansas, Margaret Beadle, Arizona; son-in-law, Aaron Hibdon; friend, Monique Ramos; ten grandchildren and one on the way.
Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate.
Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parker Mortuary. The family will serve as pallbearers.
