H. Eugene Coonrod, 95
H. Eugene (Gene) Coonrod, 95, Monticello, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at 10:40 a.m. at White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He was born Oct. 25, 1919 on the Cullen Creek Farm in rural Monticello to Guy Coonrod and Olive Hughes. He was a lifelong resident of rural Monticello. He married Helen Bowsher Dec. 24, 1933 in Monticello. She died July 11, 2007.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Sitka Baptist Church in Sitka (rural Monticello). Gene was a trustee of the Hughes Cemetery Board of rural Monticello and the Pulaski/White County Telephone Company of Buffalo.
Survivors include daughter Jacquie "Jackie" (Verne) Wilson, rural Monticello; son Max Coonrod, Monticello; grandchildren Kelly (Kirby) Davis, Lori (Harry) Smith and Scott (Sara) Wilson and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Bowsher-Coonrod.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral service is Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. James Elliott of the Sitka Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at Hughes Cemetery in rural Monticello.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be given to the Sitka Baptist Church in Sitka (rural Monticello).
