ELLWOOD CITY – Charles G. Ray, 77, of 527 Line Ave. died at 11:45 a.m. yesterday in Ellwood City General Hospital after an illness of a year and a half. He was born in Greenfield, Mercer County, April 1, 1886, to the late Gordon and Mary Jane Ward Ray. Before his retirement about16 years ago, he worked in the Grove City Water Dept. He formerly lived at 603 Barmore Ave., Grove City. Mr. Ray was a member of Broad St. U.P. Church in Grove City. Surviving him are his wife Edna Studebaker Ray; two daughters, Mrs. Bruno (Marian) La Ritz of Ellwood City and Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Hartman of Cambridge, O.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Virginia Grandy of Niles, O.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Harry Ray. The family will received friend in the H. Glenn Cunningham Funeral Home in Grove City, from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. Services in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday will be conducted by Dr. Robert T. Kelsey, pastor of Mr. Ray's church. Burial will be in Plain Grove Presbyterian Cemetery.
