Joseph C. Winder, 86, of Volant RD 2, died at 12:15 p.m. yesterday in his home after an illness. He was born in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, July 22, 1877, to the late James P. and Minnie Atherton Winder. He was married to the former Mary Rodgers and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Plain Grove Presbyterian Church and was an ordained Elder in the church sine July 24, 1921. Surviving are his wife of Volant R D 2; two sons, Howard Winder of Volant RD 2 and Rev. J. Calvin Winder of Mansfield, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. Nellie McNulty of New Castle; and seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The service will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Ligo Funeral Home in Slippery Rock by Rev. Wesley Bell, former minister of Plain Grove Church. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Interment will be in Plain Grove Church Cemetery.
