Gist's name is on his mother and father's monument in IOOF Memorial Gardens in Delphi, Carroll Co., IN. pictured at right, cenotaph.

This was sent to me from the Silverdao Museum from their collection. The following was written by Cynthia Ann Stewart (1811-1860), wife of Dr. Samuel M. Osborne, granddaughter of James Stewart, Jr.(sister to James Hervey Stewart 1809-1879) This taken from her diary: Mr. Abednigo Richardson and his wife Sarah bought Grandfather James Stewart's farm and lived on it till they died; they came from Christian Co., Ky. had no children, left the farm to an adopted son Richard Green, they were friends to my Mother in her trouble and to her I owe much for kinder people I never met. They are buried in the family burying ground on the James Stewart farm, where also my Brother James Harvey Stewart's son Gist Osborn Stewart, and my son Harvey Stewart Osborn are buried also. My father Stephen Stewart in 1812 and GrandFather James Stewart & GrandMother Stewart.

Gist was son of Elizabeth Gist & James Hervey Stewart. He had a gravestone marker at the James Stewart Plantation Cemetery. It was still there in the early 1900's. Gist's name (cenotaph) is on his mother and father's monument in IOOF Memorial Gardens in Delphi, Carroll Co., IN. pictured at right. Photos posted of the monument with his name and dates by Find A Grave Volunteer Nynaeve (#46858832) who filled my photo request for his parents. Special 'Thank You' goes out to her!
