MRS. LUCY GROSS EXPIRES AT DAUGHTER'S HOME

Funeral At Methodist Church in Reynolds

Mrs. Lucy Gross, 89, well known in the Monon and Reynolds communities, passed away at 11:20 pm New Years night at the Rockfield, Ind. home of a daughter, Mrs. Fred Phebus. She had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Gross was born Oct. 8, 1877 in Fairfield county, Ohio, the daughter of Jonathan and Sabina (Bowman) Geriest. On Feb. 24, 1897, she was married to William Gross, three years after she had come to the Monon community. She was a member of the Reynolds Methodist church.

Surviving are the following children: Arthur of Monon, George William of Monticello, Raymond of Chalmers, Roy and Leo of Minnesota. Mrs. Marie Phebus of Rockfield, Mrs. Bertha Clayton, Mrs. Alice Harvey and Mrs. Ida Lilly of Monon and Mrs. Geneva Crawford of Valparaiso; a brother, Roy Geriest of Twelve Mile; and 40 grandchildren and 55 great grandchildren.

The body was brought to the Stewart Funeral Home. At 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon services were held at the Reynolds Methodist church with Rev. Dale Hamilton of Monon and Rev. Don Bassett of Reynolds officiating. Interment was in the Bedford cemetery.
