WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Ida Bell Chavis Peeples, 82, of West Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Soul's Harbor Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Samson Chavis and the Rev. John Cardamone. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Bill Cooper, Thomas Chavis, Troy Rogers, Little Samson Chavis, Chris Peeples and Larry Jeffcoat. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington. Memorials may be made to Soul's Harbor Church, 926 Williams Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
Mrs. Peeples, widow of Carl Ronald Peeples Sr., passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011. Born in Pelion, she was a daughter of the late Nathan Vassline Chavis and Verna L. Jeffcoat Chavis. She was a lifetime area resident and a member of Soul's Harbor Full Gospel Holiness Church. Mrs. Peeples was lovingly referred to as "Mrs. Bell."

Surviving are her daughters, Wanda Jackson, Bonnie Peeples and Robin Peeples; sons, Ron Peeples (Hughette), Mike Peeples (Kathy), Carl Peeples and Shawn Peeples (Angela); seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Branham, Chris Wingard (J.R.) and Jeanette Brazell (Billy); brothers, Rev. Samson Chavis (Mary), LL Cooper Jr. (Jeanette) and Marion Cooper. She was preceded in death by her mother, Verna Lee Jeffcoat Chavis Cooper, sister, Mauldine Howard, brothers, Wilbur Chavis and Ernest Chavis.
