Anniston - Funeral service for Roena Character Drummond Von Cloedt, 98, who passed away on March 19, 2011, will be at 11 a.m. today, March 22, 2011, at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with the Rev. Jon Guthery officiating. Visitation will be an hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Forestlawn Gardens. She was born in Clay County, but lived in Anniston for many years where she was associated with Drummond Grocery. She lived in Columbus, Georgia until she returned to Anniston recently. She is survived by her sister, Eulene Character McCarty; nephew, Danny and Ruth McCarty; nieces, Kitty Bussey, Martha Jane McCrory, Mary and James Hogland, Patty and Leonard Matthews and special friends, Jack and Gail Yeomans, Frank McCraine and Cyndi Caine. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Franklin and Lena Sims Character; sister, Lois Character Thompson and nephew, Tommy McCarty. Roena loved to play the guitar and sing. She sang gospel songs until the last day of her life. Many thanks to Countryside Hospice and Beckwood Manor for the loving care they provided. Gray Brown-Service Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
