Caroline's parents are Aquilla Sturgis, who served in a Connecticut Regiment in the Revolutionary War, and Sarah Little. Her brother is Lewis Sturgis/ Sturges who also farmed in Vassar in the 1800s.
She died of old age on November 10, 1811 and then Benjamin died the next day from the shock of her death.

Their children include Adeline, Clarissa, Almina, Mary who married Clark Joslin, Thomas Jefferson Holland who moved to Fenton, Homer, Charles, Albert who moved to California and Lucius who moved to Saginaw.
