Edna Geddes Eames Denning, 92, of Idaho Falls passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Idaho Falls Care and Rehabilitation Center with her family by her side.

She was born October 21, 1918 in Preston, Idaho to Aeriel Guy Eames and Flora Edna Geddes Eames. She attended school in Preston and continued on to the University of Idaho where she received 3 Bachelors Degrees in Home Economics, English and History.

She married Edward J. Denning, Sr. on February 7, 1945 in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on June 16, 1959. They celebrated 54 years of marriage. Ed passed away June 10, 1999.

Edna raised eight children which was her and Ed's first priority. She worked as a high school teacher in Rupert and Ammon High School where she taught home economics and dance prior to raising her family. After her family was raised she worked as a substitute teacher. She was the President of the State and District PTA for many years, and worked as the District Voting Registrar Representative for 31 years.

Edna was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had many church callings. She served as the Relief Society President, Primary President and coordinator of Junior Primary for 12 years, and Stake Young Women's Presidency. She was the compassionate service leader for many years. She loved to sing in the Ward choir.

Edna enjoyed her family and devoted herself to each of them. She loved baking bread for her family and friends, canning, needlework and collecting porcelain dolls. She was a wonderful seamstress and made many of her children's clothes.

She is survived by sons: Edward J. (Ramona) Denning Jr., of Idaho Falls, Douglas Eames (Bonnie) Denning, of Idaho Falls, Mark Eames (Connie) Denning, of Idaho Falls, and Scott Eames (Karla) Denning, of Rigby; daughters: Lynne (Rodney) Bryan, of Ammon, Merri Mickulin, of Idaho Falls, Robyn (Craig) Hansen, of Idaho Falls, and Jill (Kelly) Liljenquist, of AZ;
brother, Aeriel (Mildred) Eames, of WA; 28 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ed, sisters: Donna Noyes and Veda Babb; brothers: Nathaniel Eames and George Eames; and an infant son, Richard Eames Denning.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 26 at Wood East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon Rd.) with her grandson in law, Bishop Daniel Avery Turner officiating. The family will meet with family and friends from 6:30-8:00 pm Friday, March 25 and also 10:00-10:45am prior to the services.

Burial will be at the Ammon Cemetery.
