The Fairmont West Virginian, Fairmont, WV, Wed., Feb. 5, 1908, p. 2 (Newspapers.com image 378467874):
"Mrs. Derinda Cunningham, wife of D. L. Cunningham, of Rymer, and daughter of Jacob and Jane Morgan, departed this life January 27, 1908, aged 58 years and 12 days. To this union were born nine children--Joseph S., E. Bruce, D. Morgan, Albert R., Ben F., Jennie, Luda G., and Lottie--one dying in infancy. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother, I. D. Morgan, of New Martinsville, who is clerk for the county court of Whetzel county, and was present at the funeral. Mrs. Cunningham had been in failing health for some time, and though suffering intensely, the real seriousness of her condition was not realized until near the time of her departure, and even on the day before her death she was able to walk about the home....The two daughters, Luda and Lottie, who were attending school at Morgantown, arrived home about noon the following day, only to find their mother unconscious. Joseph of Oklahoma, arrived home on Thursday, and Bruce, of Colorado, on Friday morning. The funeral was postponed until Friday, January 31, at two o'clock so the entire family could be present.
Mrs. Cunningham was a faithful companion, affectionate mother, a loving sister and a noble woman who was held in the highest esteem by all who knew her. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church when only a child...
The funeral services were held in the Emory Chapel...in the presence of one of the largest congregations that has assembled here for years. Her body was borne to the Rymer cemetery--her five sons acting as pall bearers...."
